MORONEY, Ethel Adelina (nee Felice) - October 8, 1922 - January 3, 2013 With quiet dignity and grace at the Dorothy Ley Hospice. Beloved wife of the late William (Bill) G. Moroney. Loving mother of Mary Ann (Dale) Oderkirk, Patrick (Susan), Gregory (Colleen), Ken (Linda) and Joe (Barb). Proud grandmother of Jennifer, Derek, Matthew, Jodi, Greg and Kevin and great-grandmother of Liam, Dawson, Caitlin and Melissa. Dear sister of Irma and the late Bruno, Benny, Sam, Anne, and Mary. She enjoyed a long life and celebrated her 90th birthday in October with many family and friends. Ethel was born in Toronto and raised her family in Etobicoke where the family was active supporters of Our Lady of Peace Parish (OLP). She was predeceased by her husband, Bill of 28 years in 1974. They, along with their longtime friend from St. Mary's Parish, Monsigneur Percy Johnson, were one of the original families that supported the construction and development of the OLP Church and School. Ethel was active at the Church, in the Catholic Women's League, the Altar Society, many social activites as well as administering to the sick. In addition to her commitment to her religion, she remained devoted to her siblings and family, and developed many loyal, lifetime friendships. She also worked many years as the administrative assistant to the Director of Nursing at the Etobicoke Health department until her retirement in 1987. Ethel took great pride in her home, both inside and out. She loved to watch the Maple Leafs, (despite varying family loyalties), and enjoyed music, gardening and cooking her specialized Italian dishes that became family favourites. She was a dignified lady, with strong values and character that will be proudly carried on by her three generations of offspring. She will be sadly missed by her extended family, many nieces and nephews as well as her many card playing and bingo friends at The Westbury over the past five years.
