I had the great pleasure to attend Mr Zingeone´s Mass Communications course back in the early 80s at York University. He was an inspiration. Roughly 20 years in Ontario schools and he is one maybe three teachers that accomplished that. Rest in Peace - Deepest Sympathies to all his loved ones.

Professor Frank Zingrone was and always will be the best. I will miss him
and his kidding around which was always in good taste and respectable. This
is how I remember him best. The best teacher and the best person to
motivate and challenge my artistic and intellectual skills. He said to
always shut the TV, radio and the alpha person will emerge. He was and will
always be correct. I wish he didn't go and I wish I knew. Condolences and
respect to his family and love ones. He will always be cherished. He is and
always will be my good professor who brought out the best in me. He still
does because his advice were phenomenal. I know he is in Heaven.

Dr. Zingrone was a professor of mine in the 1980s at York University. He was an inspiring and compassionate teacher who gave me the inspiration to pursue graduate studies. I will miss him, but he is not gone since his legacy lives in many people like me.

Dear Zingrone Family.
The sad passing of Frank Zingrone comes to me too late. I wish I had known sooner.
In the late 1970's Frank Zingrone, alone, amidst all that York University had to offer, became my MENTOR. No human has ever come close to him in feeding my intellectual life. Until I met Frank I was a struggling C- student at best. We became good friends, and I remember his inviting me several times to his home, (and the pub as we have been reminded also by others here) his encouragement, his comittment to my and all his eager students's development. Frank taught me HOW TO THINK, not WHAT to think. And he did that through his love and admiration and understanding of the works of Marshall McLuhan.
I only hope that I can pass on to even one person, something of what Frank has taught me - not in the head, but in that strange place where head and heart are one. If only. To do so would keep alive that part of Frank which cannot be allowed to be forgotten.
I have missed him enormously since my leaving Toronto, and I cannot imagine how all of you must feel even today.
My warmest wishes to all of you.

Dear Zingrone Family,
Prof. Zingrone was my instructor in 1984 and then again a year or two later. He was inspiring as a teacher. After the first class, he took a bunch of us students out to the pub. His tutorial leaders included Eric McLuhan among other interesting instructors that would not normally be in that position. Prof. Zingrone was a fascinating man that attracted interesting people, for the simple fact that they wanted to be around him and spend time with him. He opened up the minds of so many people. May you always have fond memories of him, as countless thousands of former students have.

To the Zingrone family,
I just was searching for important pieces of my past, and Frank Zingrone was a granite rock that anchored me from drowning in the psychological turbulence of my first year at York in 1970. I could never take notes in his class, I just felt compelled to soak up every word, as an experience not to be diminished or diluted by the interference of writing. Ironically, I sent him an email to tell him he had touched my mind for life maybe a year ago and that he has become one of my legends to pass on to friends and students, by the great oral tradition.
I salute him, and will never forget.

Dear Mrs. Zingrone and Family
I offer my condolences for your loss. Although it has been a few months, I found this obituary only today, looking him up on the internet as I would periodically do.
He was one of my professors in the early 80's, one of my favorites, one of the best, who made a lasting impression. Brilliant, funny, he had a robustness to him, a vibrancy that was inspiring at the time, and savoured over the decades. I smile in remembrance but am sad for your loss.

Dear Delia and family:
The very sad news of Frank's passing only came to me recently, upon my return to Toronto from away. Hence this late condolence.
What Delia will perhaps recall, but the rest of the family not likely know, is that I owe my livlihood (and in some ways maybe my life) to Frank. Not long after I joined the faculty at York University, I found myself in some very serious trouble, at once personal and legal. It was Frank alone among new colleagues and old friends who took the initiative and guided me through some very dark days with the instinctive kindness, necessary humour, incisive intelligence, and humane wisdom that I later learned made him who he was.
Thank you, Frank, and thank you Delia and the Zingrone clan, for being the loving environment that enabled Frank to be Frank.
With much fondness,
Jamie

Frank was one of our leading McLuhan scholars, and a great media ecologist. Perhaps more importantly, he was good company, and a good friend, in addition to being a great speaker, artist, and intellect. I feel privileged to have known him, and to have been able to help publish some of his work. I am deeply saddened by his passing, and on behalf of the Media Ecology Association I want to extend our condolences, and to say that he will always be remembered for his intellectual and artistic contributions.

Dear Delia and Family,
Frank was such a good man. He had my family's respect, affection and admiration.
I had the great pleasure of meeting him many years ago when he taught my husband Richard at York University. He was by far, Richard's favourite professor of all time.
We then reconnected as I became your colleague Delia. Watching the two of you interact over the years, was poetry in motion or a well oiled machine. Frankly, you just seemed so right together.
When Frank learned of Richard's illness, he took interest in our son Blake. What a kind man. Blake delighted in receiving and reading Frank's poetry books and knowing of the man who taught his father.
He will be greatly missed.
Always a curious mind, good person and kind heart.
My deepest condolences.
