Thinking fondly about George today. It was a joy and privilege to work with him. His loving family were always welcoming. Sometimes memories of good people we have known and enjoyed keeping us content and cheerful. Thank you, George!

We did not find out until quite recently that Cousin George had passed away. I remember visiting my great Aunt Bess, Grandma Bea's sister a very long time ago (late 1970's)when we went to Canada. I remember seeing Sonny and his children, Danny and Tanya. I wish we had kept better in touch. I have some faint memories of George but they are good ones. I know he will be missed. Since his passing we also lost Maury. Just wanted to say that the family on this side of the border is sending love and condolences to all of our family on the Canadian side. I also wanted to let that part of our family know that I lost my mother, Clara Shapiro, on Jan 6th,2012. Bess was her aunt. She had lots of good memories of the family over there. I hope someday we will all reconnect. With love and respect,

I have been without words about George since I received the news of his death. I think that's because there are none, not really. But I'm feeling compelled to write so here goes:
Though we have had almost no contact since our days together in Toronto I have never - and I mean never - felt disconnected from him, or from Louisa, or from Daccia. In fact, that is the case with everyone who came together to create what I define as Fraggle Rock.
Make no mistake, that series (at least for me) is defined not by having shot four seasons of half hour shows. Fraggle Rock is defined almost solely by the experience created by a specific group of people at a specific point in time, the essence of which will never happen again in my life. Fraggle Rock will never happen again.
And George Bloomfield was/is one of the most significant reasons that I feel that way. Both in the studio, as well as nights and weekends outside of the work, George became one of my most treasured friends. We laughed loudly together, played hard together, ate and ate and ate together - so much wonderful food and fellowship.
And I feel no less connected to this amazing man right now - in this moment - than I ever have. That's what love is all about.

Dear Daccia and Louisa, my most indelible early memories of George were of him directing Maury, Deb, and I in the talent portion of an "End Polio" Telethon Grandma Bess whipped together. I played the accordion, Deb danced and sang and Maury played the Clarinet. We were pretty bad (ok, Debbie, you were better than Maury and me) but George exhibited the same great patience and encouragement that I'm sure served him well in his directing days that were yet to come.
He was truly a beautiful guy-inside and out-and I will miss him terribly, but know we are here for you whenever you need us.I am happy the last few years were a real period of reconnection for all of us and I treasure them deeply. Thinking of you guys every day.
All our love,
Dan, Jackie and Zoe

It was my great honor to get to work with George on many projects, through my long association with Clare Walker Casting. His insight was tremendous, and only eclipsed by his huge and generous heart and humor.

Dearest Louisa and Daccia,
If words were wishes then these words would erase the sorrow and grief you're experiencing on George's passing. Sorry can't even begin to express how horrible we feel. May the memories you have give you comfort and the support of your family give you love.
Our deepest sympathy and love, Queenie and Sol

Dear Louisa and Daccia,
I am so saddened to hear this news, though buoyed by my many memories of George which are all infused with his humanity and his humor. I'll get the word out to the Fraggle Family, but please know that all of us are thinking of you and of George. For me, our relationship goes back to my early days at CBC Drama - Peep Show, Love is a Long Shot, etc. And every one of those experiences was a good one for me, because of George. His gentleness and love just filled any space he inhabited.
I'm thinking of both of you, although I haven't seen Daccia since she was a little girl, and know you will get through this period of loss because George will be forever in your hearts.
Love,
Larry

My condolences for your loss. When I was a young writer, Mr Bloomfield was one of the first "professional directors" I ever worked with. He was a charming, talented man who did an awful lot to encourage and nurture young talent.

Dear Uncle George:
I loved your laugh, your smile, and our conversations about family. Your face shone brightly and revealed an understanding joy of what was both authentic and kind. I could locate that which was better in me when I was with you. You did it your way, and those who you touched were given the gift of your love, your mind, your heart and soul.
Until we meet again.
Love,
Jonathan

Louisa and Daccia - I will remember George for many things but mostly for his great love of both of you. He adored his house painted so beautifully by the most talented woman he knew and worshiped his creative daughter. I truly enjoyed working with such a talented man and becoming his friend - the birthday parties were so much fun. And he is the one guy who looked fab in a black leather jacket and colourful scarfe! Almost turned me into a shopper! I consider myself extremely fortunate that I got to work with him, laugh with him and meet his loving family. Imagine him in a lovely room painted by the love of his life and hopefully you will find comfort.
Thank you George for all the creativity, fun and loving view of life.

I only met George once, in a hospital waiting room, but his warmth and charisma were immediately evident. I can see why he is so loved, and I have been lucky enough to hear many tales of and from those whose lives he touched. His passing leaves a silence, like the ending of a song, but his life will always be a bright light. My sympathies and condolences to his friends and family.

George was my teacher and friend. he was also my neighbor for many years...He was also the most stylish dresser and we always had mock competitions on who dressed best !
My heart is breaking trying to tell people who you were, because you are and always will be an inspiration to me...and a candle in a dark place...showing that there is always another way.
We love you George and we love you Luisa...we did not really get to know you Daccia, but your father (and mother) made us feel like we did..our true heartfelt feelings are with you...
To George..

George was a wonderful man of joy and humor that we will all remember. A person of great gift and talent, he was also known for his great generosity and love of his wife daughter and friends. A gentle man with a big heart. From my wife Pasua and I our sincere wishs for him to meet his cousin Maury and hang out again. God bless you George.

Louisa, my name is Manuela, I used to work at the Bank of Nova Scotia on Bloor. I just wanted to tell you and Daccia that I am thinking of you, so many years have passed but I remember George coming into the branch a few times. Though you are feeling the sadness of loss I hope you find comfort in knowing that people are thinking of you. Con affetto Manuela.
