GERTRUDE (TRUDY) ESTELLA HISSON (nee WELCH) Trudy slipped away peacefully on October 5, 2011 at the age of 82. Predeceased by her much loved husband, Carl (1983), son Roy (2011) and sister Dorothy (2011). Loving mother of Cheryl (Jim Whelan) and grandmother to Jason, Alan and Brent. Survived by sister Helen (Carl Cashmore). Trudy will be missed also by her many nieces and nephews and especially by Dan and Risa Cashmore to whom Trudy was a very special lady. Trudy was a longtime employee of Bell Canada and following retirement worked part-time for Statistics Canada for 19 years. She dedicated her life to helping others, including Girl Guides, Wolf Cubs, Boy Scouts, the Royal Canadian Legion and the Toronto Police Services Board, plus numerous fundraising ventures. In 2002 she was honoured with a Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition of her contributions. While yearning for her childhood home (Potter, Holland and Porquis, Ontario) Trudy recently wrote: "Tranquility Please" In the far North by the simmering birch, beside the lake of the loon, to be scattered into the Chinook winds, freely flying amongst the whispering pines, to be united with friends in the whistling winds, flowing along and knowing I'm in a piece of my father's God Heaven. In keeping with Trudy's wishes, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place. Donations in Trudy's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Royal Canadian Legion will be appreciated. Condolences to the family may be sent to Scott Funeral Home, West Toronto Chapel at www.scott-weston.ca
