GIACOMO SORANNO July 9, 1939 - November 17, 2012 Bitetto, Bari, Italy - Toronto, Ontario, Canada We the family of Giacomo Soranno, although deeply saddened by his sudden and unexpected passing, are grateful that his life journey has culminated in being accepted into his place with our Lord and into the loving arms of his awaiting parents Rocco Soranno and Angela Scigliuto and mother-in-law Antonietta D'Amico. A man known for his love of his wife Donna, daughter Angela, son-in- law Jack and most profoundly his grandchildren Christopher and Matthew. Giacomo will always be remembered for his hospitality to family and friends. Giacomo immigrated to Canada in 1966 to marry the love of his life Donna. He found great pride in his work and quickly became the cook of the family and his passion for cooking, his famous "focaccia", and the invitation to share a meal is his legacy. He is survived by his brothers Michele, Giuseppe (Ida), sister Anna (Vito) and brother-in-law Luigi (Grace) and sister-in-law Mary (Joe) and his nephews and nieces. Family and friends may pay their respects at Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge, Ontario on Monday, November 19th from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 20th from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at Transfiguration Church in Etobicoke on Wednesday, November 21st at 10:30 a.m. His body will be laid to rest at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Etobicoke. Flowers as an expression of sympathy or donations in his memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation are appreciated. He will always be fondly remembered as "Nonno Pizza" and "Santa Clause". Giacomo, your love for family will never die.
