Gordie will always be remembered fondly by his many friends and comrades in Saskatchewan, where he went to serve as the provincial leader of the Communist Party of Canada in 1979. During his three years in Regina, Gordie made a deep impression on people, with his Glasgow accent, sharp wits, outgoing personality, and unshakeable commitment to the rights of working people. When I arrived in March 1982 as his successor, Gordie took me across the province, visiting members and friends in many communities, a powerful illustration of his achievements during this time. Gordie, you will be sadly missed.
