HANS-GEORG (GEORGE) SCHWENK Peacefully on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Etobicoke General Hospital in his 89th year. An avid sailor, George (Skipper) was a lifetime member of the Canadian Forces Sailing Association, Montreal and Toronto and a Captain in the German Merchant Navy. George enjoyed a 35 year career with a division of Hawker Siddeley. Predeceased by his devoted wife Margit and loving son Fred-Jurgen. Survived by his brother Herbert in Germany and sisters-in-law Irmgard in Australia and Renata in Germany. Lovingly remembered by his daughter-in-law Jean. Close friend of Denis Paul, Joan MCKay, John Kitchener, Ron and Maggie Schriber. George will be remembered by many dear friends and neighbours. Special thanks to all the staff looking after George at EGH for their compassionate care and kindness. A celebration of George's life will be held at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., east of Jane subway on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 3 o'clock, with visitation one hour prior. As per George's wish, cremation has taken place. Family flowers only. As requested by George, if desired, remembrances to The Salvation Army would be appreciated.
