MCGILL, Harold (Harry) Gordon - Born October 20, 1922, Harry passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Community Nursing Home in Pickering at the age of 90. Loving and beloved Dad of Tim (Kathy) and beloved Pops to Holly and Mike, Harry was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Marg (nee MCAllister). Harry grew up in Kentville, Nova Scotia, the youngest of five. He moved to Toronto at the end of WWII after serving his country as a Pilot Officer in the RCAF 10BR Squadron based in Halifax. Harry retired at the age of 63 after working for Arkwright Boston. Harry had a joie de vivre that touched many people. His jokes and storytelling were legendary and quite often Harry's stories were longer than usual because he was laughing so hard before the punchline. Many called him friend at the Oshawa airport, car dealerships, local golf courses, and many Tim Horton's. A lifelong Leafs fan, it was fitting that the Leafs beat the Devils on Harry's last night to watch Hockey Night in Canada. During his final years, the staff at Community Nursing Home - Cedar Wing were extremely supportive and comforting. We cannot say enough about their kindness and caring. Special thanks for the support from our family and friends during the last few years and months of Harry's life. Honouring Harry's request, there will be no visitation or service. A family gathering will take place at a future date in Collingwood.
