To Philippa, Chloe, Astrid, and the extended Rosemarin family,
I was shocked and very saddened to hear of your loss of such a wonderful husband, father and dear friend. Our mutual friend from Dawson College found me to inform me of this very unfortunate and untimely loss. Hilton was a high school and college friend of mine. I remember him fondly in all the times we shared over the many years we had contact, and thought of him often in the years we did not have contact. Getting a lift to high school with his family almost every morning for four years when living in Cote St. Luc, Montreal, was an opportunity to witness the love and respectful interaction he had with his mother, father, sister Freya & brother Arno. He “turned me on” to blues music as well as the guitar. He introduced me to some of the folk music clubs in Montreal and that too was a great eye-opener for me. When he was the newspaper editor at Wagar High he included editorials and articles sharing his deep interest in the artistic, local, provincial and national politics and world events of the times. I recall he suggested I read “Black Like Me” and we had many discussions about the civil rights movement in the US, as well as other conversations on the tumultuous world events during the late 60s. Hilton was an inspiration in my formative years as he “led the way” for me and others he befriended. My knowledge and appreciation in culture, music, literature and social awareness expanded more rapidly and for that I am forever grateful to my friendship with him.
Years later it was always a pleasant experience for me to spend short visits (on my rare occasions) to Toronto with Hilton and Philippa in their home near Kensington Market. I recall the pride and joy he shared over the birth of his two daughters Chloe and later Astrid.
My deepest condolences to you Philippa, Chloe, Astrid and the extended family.

Dear Rosemarin Family,
I am truly sorry for your loss. I was fortunate enough to spend Tuesday evenings during the support group at the Pencer Center with Hilton. I remember vividly the first time he arrived. He was incredibly optimistic, enthusiastic and unconditionally friendly. I enjoyed meeting with him. When he was no longer able to attend the support group he was sorely missed. He often mentioned how grateful he was of his family support. I do not think that there are correct words to adequately express my condolences. I only hope that you find comfort that Hilton is fondly remembered.
