STODDARD, Jack - Peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. John Edward Stoddard, of Owen Sound, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Jean McGillivray-Stoddard. Dearly loved father of Donna Reynolds (Bryan), of Belwood, Brenda Walter (Ed) and Nancy Bishop (Doug), both of Owen Sound. Fondly remembered by his step-children, Jackie Johnstone (Rob), of Burlington, Ross McGillivray of Vancouver and Ken McGillivray of Collingwood. Cherished grandfather of Jason Walter (Laura), Christa Dickie (Matt) Leigh Walter-Gantert (Thomas) Kelly Reynolds-Moore (Christian), John Bishop, (Sally), Laura Bishop (Bill Scott), Will Johnstone and Andrew Johnstone. Proud great-grandfather of Eve, Graham, Toby, Evan, Kyle and Anderson. Dear brother of Joe Stoddard of Cleveland, Ohio and Irene Rice (Frank) of Burlington. Jack will be sadly missed by his nephew and nieces, and dear friends. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Marie Stoddard and his brother Allan Stoddard. Jack was born in Stoney Creek and raised in the Hamilton area. He was the youngest of four children. At an early age, hockey became an important part of his life and extended over a thirty year period from the minor leagues through to the NHL. Jack was an avid golfer, gifted artist and amazing wood carver. He enjoyed life to the fullest despite his many health challenges. He was the ultimate friend and loved his family with much pride and joy. We have been truly blessed to have such a remarkable man in our lives. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.
