JEAN ELIZABETH GEROW (nee ELLIOTT) Passed away peacefully at Georgian Bay Hospital on Saturday, October 20, 2012 in her 80th year. Beloved wife of the late John Gerow (2001). Survived by her sister Kathy Elliott (Tony MCNulty) and her much loved nieces and nephews Wendy Parliament Cairns (Ede), Cindy Walker (Jim), Marg Parliament, Len Parliament (Minu), David Hornett, Michelle Hornett and Mary-Anne Baun (Mark). Jean is also survived by her grand-nieces and nephews Jessica Routenburg (Todd), Katelyn Walker, Bradley Walker, Paige Ahrens, James Cairns, Kate Cairns (Corey Chivers), Simon Cairns (Teresa Allen), Kyla and Lexi Cairns and Jean's great-grandniece Emma Routenburg. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Jack Hornett and her sister-in- law Noreen MACLennan. Predeceased by her brothers Jim and Donnie, sisters Vivian (Len) Parliament and Helen Hornett. She will be missed by her lifelong friend Catherine (Bremner) Slemmons, Greenville, Texas and her extended "Orillia Gang" who have been very close friends for over 60 years - most of them teachers - along with their children who grew up with their "Aunt Jean" and "Uncle John". Jean was a public school teacher at Mount Slaven School, Orillia, Fairview School, Peterborough and in Bridgenorth. The family will receive friends at the Nicholls Funeral Home Cremation Centre, 330 Midland Ave., Midland, on Friday, October 26th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will take place at Bonar Presbyterian Church, 449 Assiniboia Street, Port MCNicoll at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 with Rev. Mark Wolfe officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at the funeral home to Bonar Presbyterian Church, the Friends of the S. S. Keewatin, or the charity of your choice.
