JOHN KENNEDY MACDONALD April 17, 1942 - March 6, 2013 Our beloved John Kennedy Macdonald (Ken) passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 after a prolonged struggle with MDS and lung cancer. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly (nee Martin); daughter Ann (Dean); son John (Debbie); son David (Cathy); daughter Sarah (Mike); 9 grandchildren and Eric Wilson to whom he was a special mentor/role model. Ken was the eldest of five siblings born to the late Brigadier General J.K. Macdonald and Sara (Dadie) Landry of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. A graduate of Ottawa University '64 and University of Toronto, MSW '69. He began his career at the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Metro Toronto. In '74 he became Director of Child Welfare, Ontario. In '79 Ken was appointed Regional Director of Child and Adult Services, South-Eastern Ontario and moved to Kingston. Upon retiring from the Ministry, he assumed a position at Queen's University where he remained until his final retirement in '07. In his professional life as in his personal life, Ken garnered the respect of his colleagues, students and friends for his wisdom, thoughtfulness and integrity. Ken was a dedicated family man.
