BURGESS, Laurel Elaine (nee MCDougall) - Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on December 31, 2012 at Scarborough General Hospital at the age of 84. Beloved wife of Rev. Gordon Burgess for 59 years. Loving mother to Caroline and David Burgess. Dear sister of Eleanor Knapp and Caroline Laughlin. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Laurel MCDougall. She will be greatly missed by her family and all of her friends. She was a former chair of the board at Agincourt Community Services Association, active in the life of her church and a longtime member of the Ecumenical Bible Study Group. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12th at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church, 2569 Midland Ave., Agincourt (at the corner of Midland Ave. and Sheppard Ave. East). A reception will follow in the Christian Centre, just north of the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Agincourt Community Services Association or the Aplastic Anemia and Myelodysplasia Association of Canada. We would like to thank the staff at the Scarborough Hospital for their thoughtful care.
