LOIS ADELE GOEDEN (nee BLOWES) Peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the Waterford Long Term Care Centre in Oakville. Lois was born on the 22nd of September, 1927 in the town of Port Elgin, Bruce County, Ontario. Her parents were John Howard Blowes who was born in Mitchell, Perth County, Ontario and Rose Adele Lamont who was born in Saugeen Township, Bruce County, Ontario. Lois grew up in Port Elgin, Ontario where she excelled at school. She won a scholarship to attend the University of Western Ontario and graduated from there in 1948 with a degree in Secretarial Science. After graduation Lois worked for several years for the Atomic Energy Commission of Canada in Deep River. In 1952 she moved to Toronto and worked for Gordon's Distillers until 1960. She married David Robert Goeden, a native of Whitevale, Ontario on the 4th of September, 1954 in Exeter, Huron County, Ontario. They settled in the Leaside area of Toronto where they lived for over forty years. Lois loved to read, had a good sense of humour and was fond of cats. She was practical in her approach to life and was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and wife. Her husband David died on the 28th of June, 2011. She is survived by her daughters Anne (Gary Usling) of Oakville and Mary (Douglas Klama) of Scarborough and her grandchildren Jennifer, Michael, Steven and Matthew Usling and Simon, Emily and Bryna Klama. She was predeceased by her brother Jack Blowes who died in 1999 in Santo Domingo and by her sister-in-law Elizabeth Wilson who died in 2011 in Kitchener. She is also survived by her sister- in-law Yolanda Aybar Blowes of Santo Domingo and her sister Elizabeth Beckler of Southampton. The family wishes to thank the staff on the Palermo Ward at the Waterford LTC for the kindness shown to Lois during the last two years of her life. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Lois Goeden will be held on Saturday, November 10th, at 2 p.m. at Eagleson Funeral Home, Southampton. Interment of Ashes, Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin. Expressions of Remembrance to the Bruce County Genealogical Society or the Alzheimer Society. Arrangements entrusted to the Eagleson Funeral Home, Southampton.
