I am here to say that Malcolm came into my life soon after I arrived in Orillia, with a box of recorder music and the suggestion that the Orillia recorder group meet here, at my house..What fun we had playing together for several years.Malcolm built me a May Pole for my music students to enjoy, .He built it from the mast of a past sailing dinghy I believe. On one of his trips back to UK he went to Cecil Sharp House and purchased a book on MayPole dances and a book of traditional tunes for me to play..I am so grateful for the encouragement and influence he had on my life. Many children have enjoyed the MayPole as have many Arts For Peace Festivals in Orillia. As I write this, during the Pandemic, the May Pole is again standing in the garden. My husband died the same year as Malcolm, and I now have my daughter's family living with me. I am teaching the children the recorder. and am taking lessons with Alison Melville on Zoom. Malcolm lives on and his recorders are here, being played.

I will always remember Malcolm as the one who made a point of saying "thank you for bringing your noisy children to church" -- and really meaning it. He truly believed there was room for all.

The memories are flooding back of meetings to start Tamarac to an always to be expected shaggy dog story, to Dwight telling me that Malcolm was off to England to have tea with his mom and on and on. My love to you Stella and all the family. Ruth Mary

"In memory of Malcolm, be kind to a stranger today." I don't think I've ever known anyone who was as kind to so many strangers as Malcolm. A truly great and humble human being who excelled at kindness, compassion and generosity to everyone he met.
