MARGARET AXLER (née KERR) Peacefully in Kingston, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, January 24, 2012 in her 88th year. Beloved wife of 28 years to the late Harold Axler. Treasured and adored mother of Aimee Axler Sarra (Martin Sarra) and Anne Axler-Larcade. Cherished Nan of Ben Shannon, Nick Shannon, Margaret "Meg" Shannon, Alexandre Larcade and Emile Larcade. She will be lovingly remembered by Samantha Sarra and Danielle Sarra Snels (Tyson Snels). Predeceased by her parents Margaret and Joseph Kerr, her sister Elizabeth "Liz" Kerr, and her brother Joseph Kerr. Her many nieces and nephews will always remember her wry wit, her wisdom and zest for life. Margaret moved with her husband and young family to Kingston in the mid-1960s, after growing up in Toronto where she enjoyed a successful career as a professional singer. She remained in Kingston for the rest of her life, where she worked for 27 years as a Medical Secretary and made many lasting friendships. Visitation at the GORDON F. TOMPKINS FUNERAL HOME - Township Chapel, 435 Davis Dr., Kingston (Centennial Dr. at Taylor-Kidd Blvd.), on Monday, January 28th from 6 - 9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Chalmers United Church, 212 Barrie St., Kingston, on Tuesday, January 29th at 1 p.m. followed by cremation. As expressions of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made through the funeral home to the Four Seasons Centre for Performing Arts or to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital.
