MARION HAZELTON Passed away peacefully Thursday, October 4, 2012 at her home in Newmarket. Marion is survived by her husband Douglas Edward Hazelton, the love of her life, who she married 64 years ago, her daughter Ruth Shipton (Alan) and son Allan Hazelton (Nan), her sister Gwen Grant (Fred), her grandchildren Laura Callahan (Dave), Amanda Aylett (Matt), Eric Hazelton, Brent Shipton, Bryan Hazelton (Denise Sparrow) and Tyler Shipton and her great-grandson Dylan Callahan. Marion was born in Calgary and attended University of Alberta receiving a certificate in Pharmacy in 1947. Shortly after marrying Douglas, also a graduate of U of A in Engineering, they moved to Hamilton, Ontario where she practiced pharmacy for a short time before moving to Welland. She and husband lived in Welland for 11 years before moving to Toronto in 1964. In the 1965 Marion went back to school to get her teaching degree. She enjoyed her life as a teacher and continued teaching grades 7 and 8 until retiring in 1976. Her last school was Tecumseh Public School in Lorne Park, Mississauga. Marion and Doug began the family cottaging passion in 1960 by building a summer cottage on Go Home Lake in the Muskokas. Marion found great enjoyment in the social side of RWTO (Retired Women Teachers). During her membership she held various administrative offices. Marion was an active bridge player and played frequently with her teaching and other friends in Mississauga. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family.
