MARJORIE WALKER Obituary

MARJORIE ANN WALKER Marjorie Ann Walker (Muff or Marjie) (nee Moffatt), age 84, of Clair Hills Retirement Home in Waterloo, died on March 2, 2016 at Grand River Hospital after a brief illness. Marj was born on May 26, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to John Melvin and Elizabeth Lindsay Moffatt and raised in Galt, Ontario. Marj met her husband Ben on a blind date while he was in medicine and she was in nursing. It was love at first sight. Marj and Ben married on June 4, 1955 at Knox Presbyterian Church in Galt. Marj and Ben raised their four girls in Kapuskasing where she was an active member of her church and community, volunteering in many charitable organizations. Marj led a very active lifestyle before it was fashionable. She was renowned for her running throughout town in rain, sleet, wind or snow. Marj took swimming lessons in her forties and cross country skied, downhill skied and played golf well into her senior years. Marj could still do cartwheels and operate GT snow racers into her 70s. Marj was a meticulous snow shoveller, lawn cutter and car washer - everything was done to perfection. Marj enjoyed bridge, book club, naughty knitters and Altar Guild for her church - she enjoyed being busy and to serve. Marj is survived by her four loving daughters Cathie (Randy), Mary Jane, Wendy and Gail; her ten grandchildren Rebecca (Jay), Gillian, Lindsay, Sam, Skylar (Amber), Devin, Blaine, Eden, Kelsey and Benjamin and one great-grandchild Rylen. She is also survived by her brother Don (Anne). Marj was predeceased by her husband Benjamin Robertson Walker (April 2015), granddaughter Samantha (1991) and her brother Robert (2007). A celebration of Marj's life will take place on Sunday, March 20th at Clair Hills Retirement Home from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. Condolences for the family and, in lieu of flowers, donations to Freeport Palliative Care or Innisfree Hospice in Kitchener may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com

What a wonderful woman, a true original. I have so many fond memories of Mr.and Mrs. Walker that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. She always met me with her huge smile as she and her little dog jogged past our house. Another true Kap original, has passed...never to be replaced.

With fond memories of our early days all together at Bruce Beach. Marj even then was the most active one in everything.
