Mr. Curry was my strings teacher 6 years ago, and I just wanted to say a final thank you for all the work he did. Mr. Curry encouraged all of his students to be passionate about their instruments, and now six years later I'm teaching the same instrument he helped get me started with. He was patient and kind and I just want to express my (delayed) condolences to his family and friends.

Dear Mr.Curry & Family,
I am only now finding out about this and it truly saddens me. you were one of my favorite teachers, even though it was only in Strings class once a week, I couldn't wait for it to come around. As i moved schools, I was still able to continue learning the violin because sure enough you were teaching at that school too. You will forever be remembered as an amazing teacher and friend. My thoughts go out to your family.
Regards,
Brittany C (Long time student)

Oh Michael! How can this have happened. Over the past decade our lives drifted apart, only the occasional phone call or Christmas card. You were a big part of a big part of my life. I always love you.

Dear Mr. Curry and family,
I am sorry for your loss. As a past student, I would like to thank him for his inspirational way of teaching. As a beginner, he exposed me to so much of what my instrument could offer. I would like to thank him for encouraging me to attend auditions, and equally thank him for the continuous support.
Rest in peace, Mr. Curry. And thank you for the rock-solid foundation you built for my music journey!

Hello,
My name is Raika and I'm a student at Forest Hill P.s., in which today we had a memorial for our beloved Mr.Curry. I gave a speech to what he meant to me. I can never say I understand how his family feels, but I understand that it is truly painful. I wrote a poem for my strings teacher: Roses aren't red, and we are so blue for we lost a teacher as special as you. We love you Mr.Curry, we miss you truly...you will remain in our hearts and forever be apart.

Dearest Michael, from Harbord to here, we have been friends the past forty years. We have shared so much, we've laughed, cried and laughed some more. We've been through thick and thin. You were the best friend anyone could have ever asked for. it was an honor to have had you as part of my family's life. Attila and Andrea will surely miss your calls and humorous antics. You will always hold a special place in my heart. I will miss you dearly.

I unfortunatley never met Michael, but I always looked forward to his segments on Kontakt. I had no idea of his outstanding talents & how many lives he enriched. To me, he seemed like a wonderful person & someome I would have been priviledged to meet. Sincere Condolences to His family, loved ones & friends. Heaven is a bit happier & a lot more musical now.

I only just received word of Michael's passing. As a former Music Itinerant I knew Michael from the first day he joined the IMI Staff of the old Toronto Board in the early 80's and later the TDSB. He and I taught together at shcools such as Carlton Village, Parkdale, Swansea and others in the west end. I can't count how many concerts, festivals, camps and dress rehearsals we worked on together, Michael tuning up the basses and me the band. I have fond memories of him motoring into school parking lots in his Ford Lincoln, his favourite make of car. Since leaving the TDSB I lost touch but have often thought of him. The news of his passing saddens me, but I smile when I remember Michael the man, the teacher, the musician and friend.
Dear Michael, rest in peace.

Michael will be dearly missed at General Mercer Public School. A champion of the arts and a favourite of the students, he made each student feel important as an individual. He gave them the confidence to be their best.
I will always remember fondly his booming voice, his irreverent humour and his instrumental expertise. Michael was a very special man. Very sorry to hear of your loss.

As a fellow music teaching colleague in the TDSB, Michael and I worked together at several schools, I as the contract teacher, and Michael as the strings itinerant. I was always so thrilled to hear his strings groups in the concerts I would host, especially his beginner strings, because he had the very special talent of getting even the freshest of beginners to play in tune with good posture and precise bowing which always resulted in good tone! Michael was a dedicated professional and passionate about his craft. He will be sadly missed from the music roster at Fern PS. My condolences to the family, and to all the Fern strings students who will be missing their dear strings teacher at this time.

I was very saddened to hear of Michael's passing. He was kind, sensitive, musically gifted, spiritual, and a supportive friend. This is a tragic loss not only for his family and friends, but for the Ukrainian, Music, and School Communities. I met him over 20 years ago when he performed with The Troyanda Trio for the "Spirit of Ukraine" gala in Hamilton. He become a very special friend to me and my whole family. Through Kontakt's "Centre Stage", Michael produced exceptional interviews and coverage of the various Ukrainian events happening locally, nationally, and in his beloved Ukraine.
