MICHAEL PATRICK MURPHY Retired TTC employee Peacefully at home on December 10, 2012 in his 78th year, surrounded by family, Michael went to his eternal rest. Beloved husband of Agnes. Loving father to Michelle (Tim Croteau) and Catharine (Brian Empey). Cherished Grandad to Declan, Julia, Michael and Mark. Son of the late John and Elizabeth Murphy. Predeceased by his siblings, Tom, Ted, Jim and Lill. Mike will be missed by his family and friends in Ireland, England and Canada. Having immigrated from Kildare, Ireland in 1957 Mike forged friendships that would grow to become his Canadian family. A 34 ½ year employee of TTC, Mike worked as a mechanic throughout city garages, retiring in 1994 from Arrow Road with many friends and happy memories. Mike's later years were spent as a volunteer driver for the
, visiting Ireland and rebuilding his family home in Rheban, Athy and countless hours enjoying his grandchildren. Mike will be remembered for his kindness, generous spirit and integrity. Never a moment wasted, a life well lived, Mike will be missed but lives on in every kind gesture given in friendship and hope. Mike's family would like to thank Dr. Benjamin and the palliative care team, Dr. Sayal for his care and friendship, and Dr. Pandaya and the Kidney Function Clinic team. Family and friends will be received at the Glen Oaks Memorial Chapel and Reception Centre, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville on Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 181 Sewell Drive, Oakville at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens.
