VASILIADIS, Michael - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great- grandfather and uncle on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Providence Health Centre. He was predeceased by his loving wife of over fifty years, Magda Vasiliadis (nee Muharemis), his parents Pando and Tana, sister Evangelina and brothers Soti and Kocho. He leaves behind his loving family; his son Peter, his daughter Susie and her husband Max Kolesnik, granddaughter Tania and her husband Dustin Coldicott, great-grandson Henri and his sister-in-law Alexandra Papajanis in Hungary. Michael Vasiliadis was born September 20, 1921 in Amynteon, Greece and was very proud of his Macedonian heritage. He joined the Greek Army and rose to the rank of First Sergeant serving throughout the Second World War and Greek Civil war. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 where he married, had a family and established his business. There are many veterans of the downtown core who will remember his exceptional shoe repair stores on Yonge Street south of Bloor and later at Church and Wellesley. Friends may call on Thursday, December 27th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). Funeral Service to follow in the Chapel at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at York Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Condolences www.rskane.ca
