HENDERSOn, Murray - Passed away after a brief illness on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Palliative Care at the age of 91. Predeceased by his beloved wife Kathryn (Kitty) and daughter Lynda. Loving father of Brian (Heather) and grandfather of David and Kate. Dear brother of Gwen Lang and the late Ruth Messham. Murray will also be sadly missed by his devoted friend Ann Brooks. He was a pilot for the RCAF during WWII. Upon returning to civilian life, Murray was recruited by the Boston Bruins, where he played defense until 1952. From there he went to coach the Hershey Bears. In 1956, he returned to Toronto and worked in the liquor industry until his retirement in 1987. Murray will miss and be missed by the NHL Oldtimers' Monday Luncheon group. The family is grateful for the care Murray received from Dr. Stoller, Dr. Silverman and the team at Sunnybrook Palliative Care. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
