LEVINE, Norman - Passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 12, 2013. Norman Lee Levine, born 1931, son of the late Reba and Saul Levine. Loving husband of Sandra, father and father-in-law of David and Judy, Jay, Harvey, and Tyler. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Elaine and Maurice. Devoted grandfather of Ruby, Hillel, Rosy, Meir, and Ezra. Norman led a long and most interesting life that included a variety of careers. Like the horse races he loved to bet on, in his professional life he would take chances as well with new and exciting endeavours that were never a sure thing. He created a national chain of shoe stores, co- owned and operated an advertising agency and spent many years in the investment business. The bet paid off as this rewarded him with all the rich and exciting experiences a lifetime could possibly provide. Norm's passion for horse racing was unrelenting, he loved the track and betting but it didn't stop at that, he rode, bred and raced his own horses. When it came to his other interests, again he wasn't content to sit on the sidelines. He loved showbiz and managed to produce a few films and he not only watched almost every Blue Jays game, he was a league player himself until middle age. One of his proudest achievements was as an active member and fundraiser for Variety Club, a charity devoted to disabled children. But of all his passions and interests it was his family he loved most. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 13th at 11:30 a.m. in the Community Section of Pardes Shalom Cemetery, 10953 Dufferin St. (North of Major Mackenzie Dr.). Memorial donations may be made to the Aphasia Institute at 416-226-3636.
