BERSENAS, Dr. Ragna - A family practice dentist for 41 years, passed away on July 24, 2011, at her beloved Georgian Bay cottage. She is survived by her husband Vasaris (Sas), daughter Alexa, son-in-law Steven, and grandsons Lucas and Aidan. Proud of her Swedish heritage, the only child of Sture and Edith Karlstrom, Dr. Bersenas immigrated to Canada in 1966. She graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1970, opened her family practice in North Toronto in 1973, taught restorative dentistry at the University of Toronto, served on the Alumni Board, and in 1996 was elected a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Ragna was passionately devoted to her family and friends, her office staff and thousands of patients, many of whom are multi-generations of the same family. A gracious hostess, a marvelous cook, a soaring spirit: a Celebration of her Life will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Vaughn Estate, 2075 Bayview Ave., Toronto, at 12 noon. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Ragna's memory may be sent to ALS Ontario, 400-3100 Steeles Avenue East, Markham, ON, L3R 8T3.
