I am shocked having just learned of Ralf's passing. Ralf was a rock for me during a very uncertain time in my life. He was unwavering in his support and my sorrow is beyond words, not only for his family but for the many people he had yet to help like he helped me. I had hoped to never need his expertise again but I pointed many people to his office door knowing the professional welcome they would receive. The world has truly lost a great person.

I only read this morning of the tragic passing of Ralf. Although I did not know him personally, on a professional basis, in my dealings with him as the opposite counsel, I always saw him as completely fair and completely sensible and a man of great and deep integrity. Our profession is diminished by this loss.

Absolutely gutted .... Ralf was a rare human being ... he cared passionately , was the ultimate professional and served his community at level that was unmatched. I will miss seeing him around town but more importantly his genuine warm demeanour and the trust and affection which were his most enduring characteristics, may he rest in peace... he now belongs to the ages ..

We first met Ralf and Valerie when our daughter, Jennifer, played baseball at the age of seven. Robin and Jennifer danced together for many years. We also knew Ralf professionally and referred all requests for family law to him. I was so impressed with Ralf's gentle and caring personality and I really felt a bond with Valerie as we had both been nurses in our life before kids. While we have lost touch over the years, our paths have crossed occasionally. This accident is such a tragedy and has left a hole in many hearts. Our thoughts and love go to Valerie, her beautiful children and all the staff at Prouse Dash and Crouch. It is a devastating loss. He was a very, very fine man. Regards. Lynne and Michael Woods

Many years ago we older Rugby players of the Wanderers Rugby remember Ralf as one of the first Canadian born rugby players in our club. Ralf was an excellent addition, in showing maturity for his age at the time both in his playing ability as well as a fine representative of Rugby players both on and off the field, he was committed player becoming 1st team captain of the Wanderers as well if my memory serve me right, Ralf also played for Ontario. I remember Ralf fondly and wish to express my sincere condolences to his wife Valerie and family, Ralf although it has been quite sometime, I wish well on your journey to that place in the sky where some fellow Rugby players will be waiting for you to join their team.

Life is fleeting, and oh too tragic when Ralf, such a giving father, husband, amazing grandfather, and friend departed ---- dying all too suddenly and all too soon on a bicycle trip in a place I know as my home, British Columbia. Religiously, Ralph lived and breathed by his convictions with respect to supporting his family, staying fit, and upholding the Canadian law. Ralf I met you at university, and though you may have majored in Kinesiology, I know you as having a Masters' in creating and retelling lighthearted witty yarns, long before your sojourn to Law School. Those of us in your presence were kept thinking constantly on their feet, as you twisted those tall tales, or as you left us hanging on tender hooks for the alluring punchline.' Your University of Waterloo friends in Kin, of which I am one of many, will remember you fondly. Your joviality and jousting with words - Ralph - will remain as part of your legacy . Presently, I am reminded of how you brightened our days and raised our spirits whenever you walked or road into our presence. May my heartfelt condolences and prayers reach your best friend (your beautiful wife Val), your children, your siblings, your brother-in-law Warren, as well as your nieces and nephews; all have fond memories of a remarkable man who lit up their birthday parties, family gatherings, and weddings. Ralph --- I wish you God's speed on your ride through the pearly gates into heaven, where I am sure you will warm your kindred spirits with your brilliant wit.
