RODERICK JOHN MACLEOD After a courageous and lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease, Roderick John MACLeod died peacefully in his own home in Toronto on March 22, 2013, with his loved ones by his side. Rod was born on June 15, 1929, in Vancouver, the youngest child of Murdo MACLeod and Barbara MACKenzie. His brother Ken predeceased him. Rod is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan, his son John and partner Beth Miller, his daughter Alexandra, his grandson Michael, his sister Marti Barregar, his sister-in-law Barbara Widdifield, numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends. Rod had many interests in life and he particularly enjoyed the time he spent in the army. Rod left Vancouver in 1948 when he was posted to Picton, Ontario, where he met his wife, Joan. They were married in 1950. Together, they created a beautiful home, travelled widely and enjoyed spending time with their family and friends whom they have left with many happy memories. Rod had a very successful career working with Russell Steel, Canadian Brewers, Greenwin, Gerbro Inc. and CN Real Estate. He retired in 1994. Rod was a loving, devoted husband, father and friend. His sense of humour, generosity and selflessness will be missed by everyone who knew him. Rod will be cremated and his remains will be interred in a private ceremony in the family plot in Picton, Ontario. At his request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Rod's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
