SEYMOUR ELLISON Obituary

MR. SEYMOUR ELLISON WWII Canadian Combat Veteran Born September 3, 1923. He was the loving husband of Alice Ellison (nee Priolo) for 65 years. A devoted and incredible father to Patty and Karl. A cherished grandfather to Staci, Shayne, Brandon and by great- grandchildren Brooke and Cori. Seymour was predeceased by his parents Bessy and Barnet, his sisters Julia, Lilly, Tilly, Annie and brother Saul. Seymour enlisted with the RHLI after the battle for Dieppe. He volunteered for the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion. Serving as a member with the "Path Finders" in Charlie Co. His unit jumped into France during the wee hours of June 4th "D-Day". He fought through France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Holland and Germany. In the small town of Xanten, Germany, Seymour was severely wounded by 7 machine gun bullets. Seymour returned to Canada and was honourably discharged at the rank of WOII. Once home, he wasted no time marrying his childhood sweetheart Alice Priolo. Seymour was employed for 36 years with M-F TOR LTD. A union rep of LOC 439 UAW. Active in the Army, Navy, Airforce Veterans and the R.C.L. In his late 70s, his health began to fail. Even with multiple illnesses, he never complained. He looked after himself, his wife and his family until at age 87 he became confined to a hospital bed. After 8 months on life support in ICU, his battle to live came to an end. Seymour leaves a legacy as do many War Vets. He lived his life with great pride and honour. He will always be a hero in the hearts and minds of his wife and family. As a husband, a father, grandfather and great-grandfather he will be sadly missed by his loving family. As we will never forget him or his sacrifices he made for us when he passed away, he took with him our love, our respect and undying devotion, for we cherished him more than words can ever express. Love always from Alice, Patty and Karl. Services to be held at Marshall Funeral Home, 905-884-1062.

To the family and friends of WO2 Ellison, deep condolences. As a member of the RHLI of today, and one who has seen fellow soldiers off to a new war in Afghanistan, I can understand the deep loss you have all experienced, as time takes even the stoutest heart. But having fought his last battle, he has joined his comrades-in-arms again, and will always be remembered.
