Thinking of Tessa after spending time with so many wonderful kids at campfire circle - formerly known as camp oochigeas. Reading her old counsellor messages reminds me of Tessa's character, her heart and her kindness. What I would do to hang out, have a sleepover and make jewellery together one last time. Her legacy lives on everyday through the kindness we show one another, as Tessa always did.

Tessa<3 From the moment I saw you playing basketball at the ymca, I knew we would be the best of friends. Remember that day when we played dodge ball in the gym? Tessa, i always think of you as an angel sent from God to teach us how to be better people and give us a better understanding of life. you have touched the lives of everyone who know you . Not only that but you are an inspiration, the one person who has taught us to appreciate everything we have including our lives.

Tessa comes from a wonderfully kind, caring, loving and thoughtful family. Not surprisingly, Tessa was always positive, peaceful, caring, gentle, kind, and happy. She was a joy to be around, and a great inspiration to everyone who met her. Her peaceful and joyful presence, optomism, and inner strength, are qualities that all humans should admire and strive to possess.
Many blessings to Tessa, her wonderful younger brother David, who is such a kind and friendly boy, and her kind and gentle parents Patricia and Roland.

"Tessa was always delightful to be around. Her smile brought so much joy to those in her cabin and her kind heart, sweet disposition, and helpful nature made her very well-liked by her counsellors. My favourite memory of Tessa was watching her ride on the kneeboard behind the motorboat. She kept giving the 'thumbs-up' so often that I thought she would never want off. It was like she was ready for a tour of the entire lake! When we would make bracelets in the Art Hut, Tessa always knew where the best beads were, and made sure everyone in her cabin had something made just for them. I am so glad to have been placed in her cabin, and will cherish all the good memories."

"I had the pleasure of getting to know Tessa over the fall, as her counsellor at WACA. I was so impressed by her positive attitude. She had this way of making everyone feel comfortable around her, and in some ways, she was more of the caring big sister to her fellow campers, wise beyond her years. She was always thinkig of other people's needs, and would go out of her way to help out her fellow cabin mates, whether it be a sport related activity, or offering to help to push a friend in their wheelchair, Tessa always found ways to help others out! She was always very supportive, and encouraging to her fellow team mates. I remember being so impressed by her maturity and caring nature."

"Tessa was always the "I'll try anything, do anything with a smile on my face" kind of girl. Despite her calm, quiet nature, she was the one in our cabin who got along with everyone and never said no to trying new things which camp wall all about. Last summer was Tessa's firt summer at camp, but it was like she'd been there for years. She fit into the flow of camp right away and made so many new friends in her cabin. I remember a time when we had our overnight camping trip and all the girls piled into one tiny tent just so they could all hang out and chat into the late hours of the night. We made smores that trip, continured to make excessive amounts of gimp and told funny stories between our whole cabin group around the fire. Towards the end of camp when we had roses and thorns, I remember that camping trip was so many of the girls' roses, including Tessa's. Tessa was a remarkable camper who knew exactly what the spirit of camp was all about; it was an honour to be her counsellor. She will be missed this summer, but the memories of her time at camp will always be with us."

"Tessa is the reason there's the saying that girls are made of "sugar and everything nice" as she was one of the sweetest people I've ever known. She never hesitated to help out a friend, whether camper or counsellor, and always did so with genuine compassion. She was always very positive and would never complain when she had to go with another counsellor or cabin group for an elective, but just said "sure" and was on the next challenge of the day. I am thankful to have met such a role model."

I was Tessa's counsellor for WACA (Camp Oochigeas) last fall (2008). I remember she (Tessa) was a little but so sweet and positive and so happy to be at camp. She was amazing with Dana who at the time was in a wheelchair, always the first to offer to push her or help her out. She was an awesome camper, I was so happy to have had a chance to meet her.

TESSA, You put 94 years into 14 years and showed many people what life is suppose to be. Your beauty, both physically and spiritually is legendary.
PATRICIA and ROLAND; There is nothing anyone can do to ease your sorrow. May you find comfort in the fact that you and your love were chosen to bless our families and this world with such a beautiful little person who was wise beyond her years and whose presence on earth made such impact for the better in so many people's lives. I have never had the privilege to have met Tessa but I have seen her grow into a beautiful and phenomenal young lady through the pictures and stories that Dorothy has shared with me over the years. I am truly sadden by your loss but you should be very proud of your daughter - she has been an inspiration to both her family and friends who knew and loved her and to those of us who did not have the opportunity to know her. Tessa was a sunshine, and now she is an angel. When I looked at the photos from Toronto I see Tessa is smiling on every Photo. We will miss her sweet smile.
I could not believe it. Sometimes life is not fair, because she left us too early. She will live further in our memory.

Tessa was truly a special girl. One must believe that her life, however short, had a special purpose. Through her strength and devotion she has renewed the faith of many. Her parents have taught us the true meaning of love and grace. Their example of loving, caring patience is an inspiration to us all. Her family have shown us the meaning of togetherness. Her school and her friends have taught us the meaning of community. Her death is tragic. We weep because we miss her, but we rejoice that she is in heaven. Thank God for sending Tessa to us. Dear Tessa my inspiration,
you have been the rock in my life. The person that has kept me grounded, and has given me a better appreciation and understanding of life. Also that every moment spent with our friends and family have to be cherished and how everything in life, including a disease as terrible and ugly as cancer can't break ones faith. The entire Echavez family as the most strong, faithful, loving family that i know, instead of there faith and family bond being tested through this hard time in all of there lives. They persevered and became closer to their family and most importantly god now more then ever. Tessa you are the brightest star in the sky, you walked with grace in everyone of your foot steps. Tessa's strength, and that of you, her family, and her friends, is a true inspiration. There are no words to express what we feel. Please know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of Aiden, Briar Rose and myself each day.
One particular memory that I have of Tessa, for me, embodies her will and determination. It was during the board basketball tournament. The girls had done extremely well and had won all but one game - the final game. Tessa had possession of the ball when a much larger girl from the opposing team attempted to take it from her. Tessa held on tight and would not let go so that she was practically dragged across the court! Tessa just wouldn't give up. She never did.
