THE HONOURABLE JAMES CROSSLAND, Q.C. The Honourable James Crossland passed away peacefully at home on December 23, 2012 in the arms of his loving wife. Born on July 24, 1932 in Toronto to James and Mae Crossland (nee Struthers). He was a graduate of the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School. His career was dedicated to the pursuit of justice and common sense, first as an Assistant Crown Attorney of the Province of Ontario, then as a judge of the Provincial Court of Ontario and, finally, as a justice of the Ontario Superior Court. He was named Queen's Counsel in 1972. A caring and devoted father, husband and grandfather, he will be remembered for his humility, kindness and generosity -- and for his love of the Toronto Blue Jays, Australian Shiraz and German Shepherd dogs. He was predeceased by his first wife, Irene Crossland (nee Richardson), and is survived by: Josephine, his loving and dedicated wife of 42 years; his sons James III (Julie) and Joseph Darran; and his grandchildren Cate Victoria and James IV. The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home, 1403 Bayview Ave. (south of Davisville Ave.) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 227 Church Street, Newmarket, Ontario, on Saturday, December 29 at 1:00 p.m., followed by cremation. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com "Unable are the loved to die for love is immortality."
