The world of Canadian design has lost yet another one of its iconic leaders, whose passion, personal vision and creativity have inspired hundreds if not thousands of other creative souls over the years. I had spoken with Theo a number of times over the years, usually with regards to his GDC Fellowship, and the one oft-mentioned wish of his I hope he achieved was to discover an unknown star and have it named after him. I know that whenever I look to the heavens on a clear night now, I'll be looking for a star with a noticeable "flourish" on it. Rest in peace Theo.

Dear Emily, Nicole, Lisa and Ben:
You were all so special to your DAD! He will be with you always.
Theo was larger than life and had the talent to design anything his amazing mind could imagine.
He was also the host of our annual summer picnics at his country home. It was a wonderful week-end of games during the day and dancing in the evening - with a great mix of talented people with Theo as our Art Director. He will be missed and will remain a part of each of us that knew him.
with Love,
Marilyn Brooks-Coles and Kennedy Coles

He was both the president of The Art Directors Club of Toronto (now known as the Advertising & Design Club of Canada) and a recipient of the lifetime achievement Les Usherwood Award. Such a gentleman - he will be missed. Dawn Wickstrom, The Advertising & Design Club of Canada.

I have not seen nor heard of Theo since 1960. I knew him at work from 1957-1960.
We worked at Art Associates at the time.
I always remember Theo as very flamboyant
young artist. He was always cordial and
helpful to me. I was 11 years younger than he. It was quite by accident I came across the notice of his passing. Even though I do not know his family and only met his wife once, I would like to contribute my sincere condolences to his Family. To me he was a great and very talented man.
