I am one of Bill's fast but virtual friends, having interacted with him on two or three different on-line sites over the past decade or so. I always enjoyed his pictures, poems and vignettes of life on lake and in the Midland area. He was a warm, witty, thoughtful, and quick thinker, and always appreciated. I send condolences to his sister and to his flesh-and-blood friends in the Midland region. I, along with many of his on-line buddies, will miss him.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bill's passing. We worked together at an Internet development company at the turn of the century. Bill went north and I went west but we always kept in touch. He had a love of animals and I hope his pets are ok. I was hoping he would pull through and was looking forward to seeing him in the spring. He was fighting his illness for such a long time. I'll say a prayer for you Bill and I hope you're in a better place.

As Wayne Weatherhead noted below, we will certainly miss Bill at our Grade 8 reunion this coming June. I was really looking forward to seeing him after all these years. In fact, I last saw Bill when we were both undergrads at St. Mike's College (Uof T), which was quite some time ago. I did note though in the obituary Bill's interest in photography, so thought I'd share a picture I came across recently - nothing artsy, but hopefully one that brings back memories of happier times. The picture is of the Blessed Sacrament Pee Wee hockey team after we won the CYO City Championship at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1966. You can't miss Bill in the back row of the picture the kid with the big grin who was always a couple of inches taller than his peers! Condolences to the family for your loss. RIP, Bill.

I am sorry to hear of Bill's passing. A 50th grade school anniversary is happening this June in Richmond Hill and I was hoping Bill would be present.

This news was so upsetting to read this morning. Bill was such a great guy. I taught him how to draw years ago and we kept in contact since then. I remember him being so pleased and surprised with his art at the end of the class. A humble, friendly and yes, creative soul.

Bill and I were best friends at St. Mike's. He once gave me the plot of a book we were supposed to read over Christmas but I hadn't. Distance softened the friendship. I am so sorry to hear this. Always vibrant and interesting even in his troubles. Will miss you Bill. love Tim

O Captain! my Captain!
was the salutation Bill used to greet me when we worked together years ago. I hired Bill to work on technical writing contracts with me at Toyota Credit and Nortel Networks in the early 90's. We became good friends during this time but lost track of each other over the years. Bill was a remarkable man, my life was made richer having known him.
