Peter Ferguson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 13, 2010.
PETER CAMPBELL FERGUSON December 30, 1935 - July 11, 2010 Peter's life was rich with the love of his wife Sharon Craigen, his children Rebecca and Ben and Ben's wife Audra, grandchildren Benjamin and Addyson, stepdaughters Megan and Jessica Glanfield and the many friends who enjoyed his challenging, probing intellect and humour. Above all Peter was a musician, filling his home and our lives with the sound of his saxophone, piano and flute. A voracious reader, Peter always had an answer for every question. According to Ben, 'before Google there was Dad'. Peter was an avid fan of movies, old and new and would remind all that not all great films are in colour. Peter enjoyed life to the fullest. Ben often thanked his father for teaching him the most important things in life: baseball, beer and beautiful women. Until the last week of his life, in spite of the leukemia which relentlessly assaulted him physically, Peter took pleasure in great food and wine and in his garden. During his 35 year career with Amp Canada, Peter served in many roles, completing his career as Human Resources Director. Drawn to Peter's wit and vitality, many co-workers remained friends for life. Peter respected and honoured his heritage, speaking regularly of his mother and father, Agnes Campbell and Neil Ferguson and remained forever grateful to Sandra Ferguson, the mother of his children. Today and forever we mourn his loss and celebrate the gifts he left us. Memories of his wit, charm and endless stories will sustain us. A celebration of Peter's wonderful life will be held at Trull Funeral Home, 1111 Danforth Ave. (east of Donlands Ave.), Toronto on Wednesday, July 14 at 2 p.m. with a visitation being held from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. "Come for me in the gloaming."

Sharon,
Peter always made me laugh. Bet people thought we never worked! What a wonderful friend he was...positive, encouraging...standing up for "Every Man". One of many gifts was making people feel good about themselves. His eyes would shine talking about you...so proud of you. Rob and I send our love and know you'll always hear his music.

My deepest sympathies and prayers are with Peter's family. I worked in Human Resources with Peter and was ever appreciative of his humour. One day back in 1977, as I was working quietly in my office, next to his, he jumped around the corner of the door and yelled "booooo". He was wearing a rubber clown mask complete with red curly hair. That became a joke between us at AMP for the next 21 years. He will be sorely missed!

My deepest sympathies to the Ferguson Family on your tremendous loss.
Peter was a great boss and friend to me and many at AMP of Canada in the Human Resources Department. I have been thinking of all the laughter while working with him and Joyce MacGregor and all the great times we shared while working together way back in the day! (1978-1983)
I have been reflecting since I heard the news of his passing and thinking about how many lives he touched during his great career.....he will be truly missed!
