WOOD, Margaret Eileen (nee Pittis) - Born June 2, 1915, died peacefully on February 1, 2014 at the Humber Heights Long Term Care Centre in her 99th year. Only child of John (died 1962) and Adeline Pittis (nee Palmer) (died 1974), she leaves no immediate family. Eileen was a true independent spirit working throughout her life. Slight in stature, she was large in presence. She spent several years after World War II working in Florida. She returned home to care for her ailing parents and found longterm employment with Memorial Gardens where she was a respected manager. She kept in touch with cousins in the United Kingdom and in Australia as well as a few in North America as long as she was able. She lamented the loss of close friends and often described herself as lonely. A series of short term illnesses sapped her strength over the past few years. Recently she said it was her time to go. We who remain wish her peace. We extend our thanks to the ladies from Circle of Care and the staff at The Village of Humber Heights, Alderwood, for their care and compassion. Eileen is resting at the LYNETT FUNERAL HOME, 3299 Dundas St. W., Toronto. Friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, February 8th from 11 a.m. to noon for visitation. Funeral service will be held in the chapel at noon followed by a reception. Interment at Glendale Memorial Gardens.
The Guest Book is expired.
