FAY DAVIS MORGAN (nee SKINNER) With great sorrow we announce the passing of Fay, peacefully at Belmont House on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in her 89th year, with loving family by her side. She leaves her children Marie, Brian, Sandra, Heather, their partners Tim Buell and Greg Bennett, and her beloved grandchildren Morgan Kurchak and Harlan Bennett. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, cute "wee Fay" grew up there, winning academic prizes and gifted in art and music - perhaps inherited from her great uncle, the legendary Scottish fiddler, composer and dancing master J. Scott Skinner. But schooling ended at age 14 when World War II brought tragedy. A bomb struck her home killing her mother, making her homemaker to father and sister while her brothers fought overseas. In 1946 she married handsome young Maurice, and in 1953 they immigrated to Canada with their children, Marie and Brian. After working as a bank officer and manager of a tax preparation service, she stopped to raise their beautiful girls, Sandra and Heather. But tragically it was alone, because Maurice died in a traffic accident. For all who knew her, Fay was a model of honesty, rare sensitivity, generosity and kindness. For others, her social concerns were published in many letters to editors. While her quick wit and piano playing continued until long after dementia began its ravages, it failed to conquer her sweet smile. Thank you Donna Locke and the Belmont staff who cared with imagination and warmth. Rest finally in peace Fay. We love you and hope to keep the message of your life in our hearts and minds.
