FILICE, Mario - Passed into eternal life on Saturday, February 15, 2014 in his 72nd year after a brief illness that he battled with great courage and faith. Born on July 29, 1941 in Cosenza, Italy, Mario made Toronto his home in 1968 to start a new life and family. He had a long working career for over 35 years with the City of Etobicoke Roads Department. In his retirement years, he was an avid hunter, gardener and member of the Knights of Columbus. Always giving and ready to lend a helping hand to anyone. Survived by his loving wife Anna Reda for 48 years. Adored father to Maria (Daniele), Silvia (Laurence) and Franco. Beloved nonno to Laura, Sara and Chiara Guiducci; Kristen and Evan Shepley; and Amelia Filice. Survived by his sisters Anna Gagliardi and Concetta Nardi of Italy. Predeceased by his parents Francesco and Maria Filice, brothers Luigi and Giovanni Filice, sister Angela AieIlo and niece Anna Maria AielIo. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and volunteers involved with our father's care, especially at the Dorothy Ley Hospice. We will always remember his energy, his smile and his caring heart.
