BAILEY, Sylvia Mae - We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beloved mother, Sylvia Mae Bailey (nee Fleming) who passed away on February 18, 2014 after a long struggle with leukemia. Sylvia was born in Kingston, Jamaica on November 25, 1937 where she attended Excelsior High School and married Roy Bailey. She arrived in Canada in 1959, working as a medical secretary at Women's College Hospital. She later moved to the University of Toronto where she became Business Manager of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. A devoted mother, world traveller, passionate gardener and irreplaceable friend, Sylvia will be greatly missed by her children Donna Nurse (Jeff), Janet Bailey and Robert Bailey (Tina) as well as her grandchildren Alex and Noelle Nurse and Lateasha Dwyer and her many adoring cousins, especially Delroy, Junior and Joy. Viewing will be held at McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Rd., Ajax, 905-428-8488, on Friday, February 28th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 35 Church St. North, Ajax, on Saturday, March 1st at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens.
