HUSSAIN, Sumintra "Bab" (nee Rampersaud) - Passed away in Guyana on February 28, 2014. Sumintra was born in Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara, Guyana on August 15, 1928. Out of 16 children, she was the only literate girl child. Indentured servitude, colonization and the 1960s race riots all impacted her life. In 1982, she immigrated to Toronto with her late husband, Mahboob. Sumintra's distinctive humour and lively storytelling will be missed by her sons, Nizamul, Isaac, Shamsudeen and Roy; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. On March 6, 2014, a viewing took place in Georgetown, Guyana (Lyken Funeral Parlour). In Toronto, the viewing is Sunday, March 9th (4 - 8 p.m.) and the funeral service on Monday, March 10th (9 - 11 a.m.), both at Ogden Funeral Home (4164 Sheppard Ave. E.), then cremation at St. John's Norway Cemetery & Crematorium (256 Kingston Rd.) at 12 p.m.
