CONKLIN, Verna - Died peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 having just celebrated her 100th birthday. Beloved wife of the late Wilfred Scott and Clarke Conklin. Survived by her sister Mary Pass. Predeceased by her brothers Alvin and James McGibbon and sisters Margaret Ritchie and Doris Giles. Lovingly remembered by her eight surviving nieces and nephews. Verna worked as a supervisor for many years in Eaton's accounts department. After retirement she volunteered for "Meals on Wheels" and was a driver for 15 years. A skilled bridge player, she joined the Senior Bridge Club at Trace Manes in Leaside and was President of the club for 20 years. She lived her last 10 years at St. Hilda's Towers, the retirement home of her choice, where she touched the lives of many; staff and residents. There she enjoyed "reading, bridge and line dancing with a little exercise thrown in." Verna will be remembered for her beautiful smile, positive attitude, and caring generous spirit.
