HARLAND, Sarah Jane "Sally" (nee Rennie) - Passed away in the home she lived in for 50 years, surrounded by her family on March 29, 2014. Wife of the late George Harland and loving mother of Cynthia (Don DiCarlo), Greg, Susan, Eric (Ruth McLean) and Elisa. Proud grandmother of Nicole and Rachel. Devoted sister to Ann Stuckless. Predeceased by her parents, William and Sarah Rennie and brothers William and George. Sarah was born in Sandhead, Scotland, on March 21, 1928 and came to Canada to settle in Toronto with her family. After meeting George Harland while working at Dominion Rubber, they married and shared a full life of travel, family and friends. They lived in Toronto, Eagle Lake, Haliburton and Alliston before settling in Newmarket. Sarah worked at York County Hospital for many years and volunteered for animal and children's charities. Her love of history, animals (especially her much loved dogs) and books have been deeply instilled in her children. Special thanks to the staff of Southlake Regional Health Centre, Regional Nursing Services and St. Elizabeth's, especially Dr. Yuen, Karen, Amanda, Stella and Helen who made it possible for Mom to be at home for her final weeks. Donations in Sarah's memory may be made to the SPCA. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
