PETER EDWARD O'ROURKE It is with profound sadness that the O'Rourke family announces Peter's passing on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre following a brief battle with cancer. Peter was a kind and generous man, and throughout his life, family always came first. He leaves his wife of 43 years, Penny and cherished daughter, Kristin (and her husband John Nevin). Peter is predeceased by his parents Mabel and James and younger brother Bill. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by siblings Paul O'Rourke (Irene) and Sandy Forhan (Bob) and many nieces, nephews and good friends. He always enjoyed spending time with family and close friends, and was the life of any party. We remember and celebrate the life of Peter, a very successful entrepreneur, who had a passion for building companies, brands and ideas from the ground up. He had a fulfilling career in advertising and media, establishing full-service agencies such as Gray O'Rourke Sussman, and he brought his business acumen to many other organizations, including radio stations. His latest business endeavor was a not-for-profit organization, The Centre for Education & Training, where he served as Chairman of the Board. Peter never stood still and was deeply committed to his work. He had a million dollar smile and the luck of the Irish on his side. The family wishes to express its appreciation to Father Jim Carruthers, as well as many relatives, friends and neighbours for their constant love and support throughout this journey. Peter's Irish eyes are smiling on all of you with heartfelt thanks. Visitation will be held at TRULL "NORTH TORONTO" FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 2704 Yonge St. (5 blocks south of Lawrence Ave.) on Thursday, May 1, 2014 between 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church (Yonge Street South of Lawrence) on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In keeping with Peter's wishes, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
