JOVANOVIC, Dr. Anica - Passed peacefully on April 20, 2014, in the 88th year of her life, after a short illness in Toronto, Ontario. Anica is survived by Jovan, her beloved husband of sixty years, her loving children Goran and Vera, their dear spouses Susa and Fania and her four grandchildren, the true joys in her life, Natasha, Gregory, Roxanna and Kira. Visitation to take place at the Highland Funeral Home, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East, (416-773-0933), on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. with the funeral service being held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Lawn Cemetery. Anica was born November 15, 1926, in Kosovo Polje, Yugoslavia, moved to America in 1957 and then Canada in 1966. She was a longtime resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba and in 2006, Anica moved to Toronto to be with her family. Anica was a radiologist by profession and deeply and passionately involved in the Serbian community and cultural activities. Anica Jovanovic fought and defeated cancer three times. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Princess Margaret Hospital of Toronto, which specializes in cancer care.
