WILLIAMS, Wilma - 1921 - 2014 With grateful thanksgiving for a long life filled with many blessings, our family shares the passing of Wilma Mary Williams, setting free her energetic spirit on May 17, 2014 at the Wesburn Manor, a long-term care facility where she has lived for over two years. Wilma is survived by her loving and much loved husband of over seventy years, Douglas E. Williams; her daughters Gail Rickard (Donald), Joan Candy (Bill) and Ruth Lowe (David); her grandchildren Alan (Rochelle) Rickard, Karen Rickard, Emily Candy (Alex Morales), Pamela Candy and Glenn Candy; and her great-grandson, Everett Rickard. Wilma was born in Ottawa on May 16, 1921, along with her identical twin, Verna, to the late Rita and Bill McDaniel. Wilma was predeceased by her older sister, Lois Fink and recently, by her twin sister, Verna Quick, with whom she was so very close. She is survived by her two younger sisters, Alison Atkinson and Elva Grabiec, of Ottawa and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Wesburn, particularly those on third floor south who were directly involved with Wilma's care. We are grateful for the gentle, loving care given to Wilma by Josie and Janet as she struggled with Alzheimer's and declining health. Wilma will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family, her energy, vitality and sense of humour, her strong work ethic and for her involvement at St. Luke's Anglican Church. Remembrance of Life service will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church at 1513 Dixie Road, Mississauga, on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 905-279-7663. Memorial donations to either St. Luke's Anglican Church or to the Alzheimer Society Peel would be greatly appreciated.
