JOANNE I. HENEY (nee WHALEN) April 3, 1955 - May 23, 2014 The family of Joanne Heney regretfully announce her passing. The youngest of seven born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Loving wife to Paul, mother to Ryan (Margaret) and Robyn (Brad) and doting Grandmother "Nanny Jo" to Myles, Blake, Audrey and Melody. Joanne's primary focus was her children and grandchildren. From hosting family gatherings to making special occasions memorable, Joanne was constantly concerned with the happiness of her family. Joanne was blessed with a close-knit group of friends and a strong Unionville community. Words were Joanne's passion. Through singing and writing Joanne shared her voice, both in her professional and personal endeavours. Joanne's family would like to express gratitude to everyone who has offered us their love and support these past weeks, especially Gail Heney, Dr. Fingerote and the staff of Mackenzie Health and St. Michael's Hospital. A celebration of Joanne's life will be held Thursday, May 29th at 2 p.m., with a reception to follow at the Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, L3R 5G1. In tribute to Joanne's giving spirit, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. Please also consider being an organ donor. More information and registration for organ donation can be found at www.beadonor.ca In Joanne's own words - "Please be strong, please embrace life and all that's good in it and please believe in the power of God and please believe that I am happy, oh and that love transcends time, space and even life and death."
