LORD, Ivy Mercedes (nee Rimann) - (September 1, 1925 - June 6, 2014) Passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket. Beloved wife of Vivian N. Lord (predeceased September 2000). Loved step-mother of Jennifer, William, Patricia (predeceased July 1980) and Charmaine, step-grandmother of Nathan, Julia, Laura and Anesha and great-step-grandmother of Noah and Jude. Loved and will be sadly missed by her sisters Kay (Victoria, BC), May (Mandeville, Jamaica, West Indies), sister-in-law Sheila (Jamaica, West Indies) and her many nieces, nephews and friends (predeceased by brothers Francis, Fritz and Guy). The family is very grateful to Helen, Paul (nephew) and Damian for their never-ending support and love. Mercedes was born in Jamaica and immigrated to Canada in 1951. She was a kindhearted and caring woman. Mercedes was a very accomplished woman, recognized for her many achievements by the Royal Bank of Canada (during her 40-year banking career) and by Community & Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS) for her volunteer work (through the Telephone Reassurance Program). Mercedes was an avid gardener and hockey and baseball fan. At Mercedes' request, there will be a memorial visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway, Aurora, ON, L4G 6W8. At Mercedes' request, there will be no reception and no graveside service. If desired, memorial donations may be made to CHATS, 240 Edward St., Suite 1, Aurora, ON, L4G 3S9.
