COOKE, Isabella - It is with the most incredible sadness that we have to announce the loss on Monday, June 23, 2014 of our amazing matriarch, at the age of 93. Ever young in spirit and sharp in mind, Isabella wanted to live to be 100, but her body just would not cooperate. Isabella was surrounded throughout her ordeal by the love of the family which she nurtured and taught to love. True to her nature, Isabella worried about each of us, instead of herself, during her final days. She had to be reassured constantly that we would be alright. Isabella lost the love of her life, Harry, in 1981, her adored son Harry in 2009 and her little great-grandson Kevin in infancy in 1997. Isabella's legacy is her family, of whom every member held a special and very important place in her heart. Left behind are children Ann and Don, Pat and Will and John and Donna; grandchildren Donny and Mary, Debbie and Cesidio, Tricia and Brett, Johnny and Vania, Guy and Valerie and Kim; great-grandchildren Victoria and Greyden, Hayley, Stephanie, Brooke, Devon, Jessica, Joseph, Jordyn, Amelia and Johnny (Gram was so looking forward to meeting the little one who is expected in October) and great-great-grandchildren Caleb and namesake Isabella. Also missing her terribly, are Isabella's extended family and many friends. She was loved by so many. The following mantra was important to Isabella and she would hope that you are able to embrace it: "This life for me has truly passed. I have loved you all to the very last. Weep not for me, but courage take, and love one another for my sake." Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital, especially Jane and Dr. Mira Shuman, for their compassion and genuine interest in Isabella's care. A service will take place at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West (2 stop lights west of Yonge St.), Toronto, at 12:00 noon, on Friday, June 27. Refreshments to follow. If you wish, a donation to a charity (rather than flowers) would have been appreciated by Isabella. One of Isabella's favourite charities was the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada.
