dp2118384m 01WHITESPACE dp2118384m 01WHITESPACE GEORGE (BUD) MYRON VAN HORN October 30, 1926 - June 30, 2014 Passed away peacefully at the age of 87. Born in Monteith, Ontario. Survived by his wife Ruth of 63 years. Predeceased by parents Loran and Florence Van Horn and sisters Nelda, Iva, Helen and Edna. Cherished father of Cheryl (Jim) and Brian (Cindy). Loving grandfather of Kelly, Karin, Kyle, Brianne and Brendan. Special uncle of many nieces and nephews. Dad was a diverse man with many talents and gifts. He came to Toronto at age 17 to try to become an electrician but found no apprenticeship available. He became a precision machinist which led to a career in the tool and die industry, including work at A.V. Roe and development of the Avro Arrow. He then began a career in personnel working for the Social Planning Council, Grand and Toy, H.G. Acres Engineering and Associated Pullman-Kellogg. In later years he kept busy by sharpening implements for various commercial industries and the public. He could visualize, draw and build anything, including two family homes with Mom. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Dad was a proud Mason for 60 years. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Neweduk-Erin Mills" Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga (just east of Erin Mills Pkwy.), on Thursday, July 3rd, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2014. Committal service immediately to follow at Springcreek Cemetery, Clarkson Road, Mississauga. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
