ALFRED WERMESCHER Born February 16, 1925, in Sächsisch-Regen, România and died July 9, 2014 after a battle with Parkinson's disease. Predeceased by wife Maria Gerda in 1983. Dad had an avid interest in electronics from when he was a young boy and was in field communications on the Russian front during World War II. He and Mom came to Canada in 1957, where he worked in the electronics industry for many years, beginning at Bayly Engineering in Ajax, then at Zeiss and finally almost 20 years in his own business, AWS Colourimetry. Very physically active and fit for most of his life, he loved spending time at his cottage, jogging and wind-surfing. After Mom passed, his later companion of twenty years, Gisela Wagner, became his working assistant and leisure- time chum, dancing and travelling together with him. Dad also enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren. Lovingly remembered after a long and full life by all of us: daughter Angela (Angelika) Stanley; companion Gisela Wagner and her many relatives; grandson Grant Robert Stanley and wife Sheila; granddaughter Angela Mae Stanley; and great- grandchildren Mathew, Ryan, Anara and Ian. Friends may call to the JERRETT FUNERAL HOME, 660 Kennedy Rd., Toronto, for visitation on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. Donations made in Alfred's name to Covenant House, Toronto at www.covenanthousetoronto.ca or to the Toronto Humane Society at www.torontohumanesociety.com would be welcomed if desired.
