JOHANNA FRAZER Mom passed away peacefully in her 93rd year on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Scarborough General Hospital surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late John, Mum and Dad are reunited again. Deeply loved and adored mother of Tom (Linda) and John (Lesley) and grandchildren Autumn, John and Jeanine, who were absolutely over the moon about their Nanny. Predeceased by her brother Gusty and sister Mary-Catharine. Survived by her brother Tom of Vancouver. Mom was born January 6, 1922 in Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland and at the age of 18 left for London, England to pursue a career in nursing. It was there, after World War II that she met Dad at a local dance and the courtship began. Mum and Dad immigrated to Toronto in 1948 by ship, encouraged by Dad's sister Martha that Canada was the land of great opportunity. Married and with very little money to start, they found work, settled in, and began to make Toronto their home. It was later in life that Mum and Dad decided to start a family (Mum always said that she made the decision and told Dad after) and along came 2 sons in 1962 and '64. Mum was a homemaker during those years and Dad retired in 1973, essentially still raising us boys during his initial years. Time passed and nothing was ever as important as family and tradition. We cherish all those years. When Dad passed away in 1997 he asked that we look after Mum, which was our absolute privilege. Mum was the core of our family, with each and every Sunday afternoon spent at her home for lunch, conversation, chores and lots of laughter. She adored her grandchildren as much as they adored her. Although we wanted her to live forever, Mum definitely lived a full life and left us with a lifetime of great memories. She will be in our hearts and minds forever. The family will receive friends at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd., Scarborough on Tuesday, July 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Private family funeral held on Wednesday.
