HON. RICHARD JAMES HARDY STANBURY QC May 2, 1923 - July 21, 2014 An extraordinary man! Predeceased by his beloved wife Margie. He loved his church, community, country and most importantly his friends and family. He built libraries, a hospital and Presbyterian Churches. He was President of the Liberal Party of Canada and served 30 years in the Senate leading worldwide trade missions and chairing many committees. He was born in Exeter, Ontario, to George and Jean Stanbury. Dick married Margie, the love of his life, and they lived in Toronto, where he practiced law with Al Hollingworth and his brother Bob, then at Cassels Brock. He enjoyed many years on the Board of Rogers Communications and other National and International Boards. In later years he spent winters in Naples and summers at the cottage. He was a truly good man, kind and generous to everyone in every way. He will be greatly missed by those left behind: sister Elaine, brother Bob, daughters Jane (Gordon) and Sally, grandchildren Jen (Jeff), Jackie (Charlie), Kelsey and David and great-grandson Tyler. A memorial service will be held at Celebration Presbyterian Church at 500 Coldstream Ave., Toronto, at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 11th.
