TOSHIKO USAMI It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Toshiko Usami, peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2014, at her home after a brief illness. She was born October 5, 1924 to Taki and Jirohei Otsuka in Vancouver, BC. Toshiko is survived by two sisters, Betty Putnam, Abilene, Texas and Keiko Nishimura, Kanata, Ontario; three brothers and their wives, Masato (Michael) and Coty Otsuka, Manila, Philippines, Yoshiharu and Fukue Otsuka, Hiroshima, and Katsuharu and Ieko Otsuka, Otsu, Japan and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Usami, her parents and two brothers. The family wishes to thank Toshiko's special friends, Carol Wiggins and Sheilah Currie and the staff at Delmanor (Wynford) for their loving care during her illness. Visitation and service will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Highland Funeral Home (Scarborough), 3280 Sheppard Ave. E. Visitation from 2:00- 3:00 p.m., service at 3:00 p.m., followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre or to Centennial Japanese United Church.
